Prime Minister Narendra Modi today flagged off MV Ganga Vilas, the world's longest river cruise, in Uttar Pradesh's Varanasi through video conferencing. The flag-off ceremony was held in the presence of Minister for Ports, Shipping & Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal, chief minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath.

"The inauguration of Ganga Vilas will open new vistas for the Eastern India to emerge yet more brighter on the world map of tourism," PM Modi said after the inauguration.

MV Ganga Vilas is the first-ever cruise vessel to be made in India. This is the symbol of Self- reliant India or Atmanirbhar Bharat in the River Cruise Sector.

The PM also inaugurated the 'Tent City' built on the banks of river Ganga in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. And, also laid the foundation and inaugurate several projects of inland waterways in Bihar, West Bengal and Assam on this occasion. ∎
