Alliance named as ˈINDIAˈ for 2024 Parliamentary elections

The 2-day meeting conducted by the Opposition parties in view of the 2024 Parliamentary elections held in Karnataka’s capital city Bengaluru concluded on Tuesday around 4.00 pm. Around 26 parties in India attended the second meeting which was mainly presided by the Karnataka Chief minister Siddaramaiah and the Deputy Chief Minister DK. Shivakumar to take on the BJP Government in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Several top leaders in the country attended the meeting including former Congress president Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Maharashtra MLA Uddhav Thackeray. After the opposition meeting, a press conference was held in which the Name of the alliance and some of the campaigning startergies for the elections were announced. Addressing the reporters, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge declared that the name of the alliance will be INDIA which stands for Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance.

Kharge further said, ̎An eleven-member Coordination committee will be setup for which the members will be announced in their next meeting. The next meeting is expected to be held in Mumbai and the date for that will be announced soon. He also added, that A secretariat will be set up for campaign management mostly in Delhi. ̎

The following points were said in its joint resolution by the opposition alliance:

• Demanded the implementation of the caste census.
• Defeat the hatred and violence being manufactured against minorities.
• Stop the rising crimes against women, Dalits, Adivasis and Kashmiri Pandits.
• Determined to combat and confront the continuing assault on the Constitution and on constitutional rights of democratically elected state governments.
• Resolved to fight what they claimed was a "systemic conspiracy" by the BJP to "target, persecute and suppress our fellow Indians".
• Pledged to present to the nation an alternative political, social and economic agenda.
• Alleged that the "brazen misuse" of agencies by the BJP government against political rivals is undermining democracy.

Kharge told the reporters at the end of the conference, ̎The main aim of this 2-day meeting is to stand together to safeguard democracy and the constitution. ̎ ∎
